Can the ancient monster be eco-friendly?

Once upon a time there was a monstrous creature which has been terrorising the sailors overseas. The cephalopod-like creative of the enormous size. The legendary Kraken.

At the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century we still do not know what exactly can be found in the dephts of the Ocean. The mysteries of the underwater world are waiting to be discovered.

However, this week Kraken came to Madeira. Luckily, it is not the ancient monster but a research ship. Workplace for the team of environmentalists from the organisation Wings of The Ocean who are working on deepening our knowledge about the various ecosystems. They are trying to answer multiple issues which are the matter urgency while we are facing the global climate change, health crisis and raising demand for the metalliferous minerals. Need for new substances for vaccines can be solved thanks to the animals from the depths and lack of the recourses in the traditional places can be resolved because of those available under the surface of water

Despite of the multiple unknowns about the depths of the Ocean we know one for sure. It’s full of trash. Teatro Metaphora’s team again helped to clean the environment collecting trash on the beach in Câmara de Lobos. Together under cooperation with Direções Regionais de Educação e de Juventudethey managed to gather over 200 kg of the garbage.
