Ideas to make DIY gifts

Hello! This month we have celebrated two birthdays here in Metaphora so we had to think about ideas for gifts. I think that it’s always better to prepare something personal and handmade because you spend less money and it’s something more significant for that person. So in this post I’m going to give some creative ideas to give as a present which don’t require difficult artistic skills and with recycle materials.

  1. Jar with sweets and messages.

This is a very simple and beautiful gift. The only things that you will need are an empty jar, paper, paint and some sweets. The idea is to write wishes and put them inside of the jar. You can also add chocolate, sweets or whatever you want. Moreover, it is also a good idea to decorate the jar.

2. Poster with pictures/ collage

It is a good present for people that like to decorate the walls of their room. It is as easy as buying a colorful piece of cardboard and print some pictures. I you want to decorate it more you can also use pieces of magazines paper, stickers, tape… etc. For the birthday girl, we printed some pictures and I did little envelopes that we glued on the cardboard for people to leave their messages. The final gift looked so good!

3. Photography album

If that person doesn’t have enough space on the walls or doesn’t like to hang things on them, another alternative is filling an album with memories. You can buy a cheap one in the store and upgrade it with some decorations or you can do one made of carton. As in the previous idea, you can glue some pictures and add drawings, messages… just let your creativity flow!

4. Pop up card

Another cute idea is to create a postcard instead of buying it. You can create a simple one made of cardboard and simply decorate it and write something inside. But I will give you another interesting idea to make it funnier, that is, a 3D postcard. There are very simple designs so you don’t need to be an expert in origami.
