Busy hands are happy hands

There is no shortage of things one can do if you have the creativity for it and Christina (a local volunteer) sure has her creativity on a high! 🙂

A couple of weeks ago she showed us how to create earrings out of cans, staying true to the Teatro Metaphora mission of recycling and reusing materials. So for the last two weeks the team of international volunteers has been using old pieces of jewelry, the cans and our creative juices to produce these beauties.

Firstly we each made a pair for our selves of course, as a little momento of our time here in Madeira and the times we spend with the organisation.

And we continued to create until we had well over a hundred pairs of earrings. You might ask what’s the point of making so many? Well our mission was to promote Teatro Metaphora during the the São Pedro festivities that have taken on the streets of Câmara de Lobos from 27th of June to the 1st of July. The earrings were just a small part of our work of course, as the main part of our project Frágil – the can art and street lamps have been displayed for this occasion as well.
