Welcome to Madeira!

A great way to spend a sunny day in the island of everlasting spring is taking a stroll. But a even better way to spend is to show the sights to newcomers. And that’s exactly what we did today.

Yesterday new volunteers came to Madeira to join us in our project. Two lovely Turkish girls – Tuğba and Zeynep.

After they got their much needed rest, we met in the morning and off we went. Our first stop was a local bar for a cup of morning coffee, then we continued our way through the bay area up the steep streets to a famous view point of Câmara de Lobos – jardins do Ilhéu, my favourite place to relax and unwind. On our way we even caught a sight of Columbos’ flagship – Santa Maria.

We continued our way through the city center, bought a yummy ice cream cone and walked the promenade, on the way to Funchal where we observed a couple of locals cooling off in the ocean.

After a good couple of hours of walking and talking behind us, and a little sunburned skin might I add, we went back to the city center and stopped at a local restaurant to replenish our strength. It was the perfect ending to the first tour for our new additions to the team 🇹🇷🇹🇷
